Birthday Fun!

A week later, and I'm finally getting around to posting! We've been sick at our house but things are starting to return to normal!
So, on Friday, the 19th we had a little birthday dinner with family to celebrate Daisey's special day.
On Saturday we went to Chuck E. Cheese in Sandy with our friends, Jess and Augest and their girls, Sydney and Alexis. It was a lot of fun. Root beer, pizza, arcade games, hundreds of screaming toddlers and a creepy giant mouse? What more could a seven year old ask for? :)

Daisey's new bike!

Make a wish!
3 little monkeys sitting in a box!

A cheesy Chuck E. Cheese grin!
"Mom....he's kind of giving me the freak outs....."

He's a kid that likes his root beer!
She's a silly one!

Happy Brithday Miss SEVEN year old Daisey!

Happy Birthday Daisey! 7 years old? Really? I can hardly believe it! Can you really be SEVEN already?!
Well, I guess when I really think about it you're not a little girl anymore. You're a big girl! It's the little things you do that tell me that you are definately a SEVEN year old! When you say, "Mom and Dad, I don't need you to meet me at the bus stop anymore. I can do it myself." (sniff) When you dance around the room singing to the "Jonas Brothers". When you sit at the computer and say, "Mom, how do you spell Hannah Montanna.com?" When you come home with reading homework and ace it the first try! When you proclaim that barbies and dresses and cutesy socks and princesses are lame and High School Musical is cool! These are the things that I see you do that make me think, "Wow! My little girl is growing up!"
It's an emotion that I can't quite explain. I get a lump in my throat and I am filled with pride and love and joy. Sometimes I wish I could freeze time, just for a little bit and keep you small for just a little longer!
But, if you must grow up, you must! We are here to travel this journey with you! Live your life! Dream your dreams! Go ahead and grow up! We love you "little big girl"!

9/11 We will not forget!

Photobucket Image Hosting
You will never forget where you were when you heard the news of September 11, 2001. Neither will I.
I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man when he called his wife to say "good bye". I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the strength to say, "Honey, I'm not going to make it, but it's ok......I am ready to go." I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand the words and realized that he wasn't coming home that night,
I was at the base of a building with a priest ministering to injured and devastated souls. I took hiim home to tend to his flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and he answered.
I was in Texas, Kansas, London. I was standing next to youwhen you heard the terrible news. Did you sense me?
I want you to know that I saw every face. Some met me for the first time on the 100th floor. Some sought me for the first time on the 100th floor. SomeSome chose for the final time to ignore me. But, I was there. I did not place you in the tower that day - you may not know why but I do. However, if you were there in the tower would you have reached for me? Seek me now while I may be found. Then at any moment when you know that "you are ready to go" I will be there to find you in the stairwell of final moments.
Love, God

The scissors incident

Yesterday Isaac asked, "Mommy, are you sad because you look like a boy?" Isn't he sweet?

And it occured to me that I never posted about what we now refer to as "the scissors incident".

It happened a couple of weeks ago. I spent the day cutting hair: neices hair, friend's hair, kid's hair. After cutting Maggie's hair she said she wanted to do mommy's hair. I gave her a brush and a spray bottle. I sat on the floor texting on my phone while Maggie played hair stylist. I hadn't cleaned up all my things, my scissors, comb and clippers sat on the table.

Apparently Maggie thought that if the brush and spray bottle were fair game then so were the scissors! I felt a snip by my ear and watched in horror as a big chunk of hair fell to the floor! Aaah! As I ran to the bathroom screaming Maggie proclaimed, "Me did it! Me cut Mommy's hair!" She was very proud!

Thankfully, my friend, Lorinda helped my hair. She didn't fix it, she helped it. She's good but she hasn't perfected the art of re-growing hair yet!

So, now thanks to my 2 year old, I have the short sassy hair cut that I've always been too chicken to get!

If you're impressed with the picture, feel free to call Maggie Mo for an appointment. Not only does she cut her own hair, she also cuts her Mom's! Grrrrrr....
